🎧 New ClubCast Podcasting Contest:

Topic: “Hard Things and What It Means for My Life”

💡 Purpose:
To spotlight and celebrate the courageous voices of staff and students in schools and Clubs who face hard things and choose to show up and work through the hard things anyway. Through storytelling, this podcast honors the people guiding our youth, and the young people learning to overcome adversity with resilience, hope, and purpose.

🧱 CHALLENGE STRUCTURE

Who Can Participate:
Must be a registered ClubCast member: School, After School Program, Youth Facility. Each Club/School will have (at least one) Podcasting Champion (staff lead). Students will be interviewed by their Podcasting Champion

Submission Requirements:
To qualify, each entry must include:
✅ 1. Host Introduction Episode (by the “Podcasting Champion” Staff or Teacher):

    Content:
  • Length: 10–15 minutes
  • Introduce yourself and your role (the Podcasting Champion)
  • Describe your Club or school
  • Share your "why" — why you do this work
  • Tell a story of a hard thing you’ve overcome in your life and how it shaped you. Reflect on what working with youth means to you

✅ 2. Student Interview Episode(s):
  • Each episode is an interview by the “Podcasting Champion” with one student.
  • Length: 10–15 minutes

  • Content: Ask the student:
  • “What is something hard or difficult you're facing—or have faced—but choose to do anyway?”
  • “Why do you think doing hard things matters in life?”
  • “How has facing this made you stronger or more confident?”
  • “Where do you want to be in 5 years?”
  • “What are 3 things you can do to get there?”

Note: Podcast Champions can submit as many Student/Club-kid interviews as they’d like.
Each student or Club-kid episode counts as an additional entry.

Example of your show:
  • Title your new Podcast Show 'The Hard Things Podcast Challenge'
  • Episode 1: Is the Podcast Champion Episode
  • Episode 2: Name of Student/Club Kid Podcast Title
  • Episode 3: Name of Student/Club Kid Podcast Title
  • Episode 4: Name of Student/Club Kid Podcast Title

In the example above, this would count as 3 entries into the contest. Each Student/Club Kid podcast is an entry. However, it only takes the Podcast Champion and at least one Student/Club-kid entry to win the contest but the more entries that you submit the better chances that your club has to win.

5. JUDGING.

Judging will begin on or about July 1st, and will end on or about July 30, 2025. There will be two (2) rounds of judging. Initially, all Submissions that meet the requirements listed in Section 4 above will be reviewed by a panel of preliminary judges selected in the Sponsor's sole discretion, that will consist primarily of members of ClubCast Team (the "Preliminary Judges"). The Preliminary Judges will judge Submissions on the following criteria:

45% — Information and Structure
  • Does the Submission tell a compelling story or teach us something new and important? Is it structured in a way that makes sense and keeps listeners engaged? Can we easily follow the story you're telling or the information you're explaining? Have you spent time editing — cutting out unnecessary information or repetition and making sure the main ideas come through clearly

45% — Personality and Creativity
  • We want to listen to this Submission and hear your voices. Do we hear the unique voices of the host and any collaborating guests? Does it have personality, or does it make us want to "fast forward"? Does it make us laugh or cry or leave us deep in thought — FEEL something? That's what we're looking for.

10% — Production Quality
  • We're not judging you on how fancy your equipment is and we don't expect you to be an expert on recording and editing sound, but we hope you'll try. Some Submissions may use sound, or audio, in creative ways. Others may be more of an interview format. If you use sound, does it add to the story you're telling? Did you layer the audio and narration? These are some of the things we'll be looking for.

The Preliminary Judges will select three (3) Finalists Grand Prize Winners.
